Details:

‘Mana Manthana’ is a narrative based on real life instance that reveal step by step the twists and turns in human thinking and behaviour. The film attempts to portray the intrinsic nature of how human emotions like love, attachment, greed and passion shape and mould our thoughts and behaviour. ‘Mana Manthana’, tells the story of a family riddled with conflicting desires, interests and aspirations between the father and son. It also depicts the tender feelings, concerns, and dreams of a demised mother towards her son. And how the son suffers not being able to fulfil the mother’s wishes due to his father’s domineering attitudes that reflect the patriarchal arrogance still predominant in Indian familial institutions. How parental attitudes and social demands exert pressure on the young minds leading to a psychological trauma seems to become the important feature of this narrative. ‘Mana Manthana’ tries to portray how the family as an organic entity has remained unchanged even amidst dramatic socioeconomic changes that have been taking place in India. The film gives an impression that the fundamental beliefs, values and perceptions, characteristic of Indian families, hardly seems to have altered with a passage of time. ‘Mana Manthana’ thus makes us introspect on these intriguing shades of the human mind. The narrative is an emotional journey as one goes through the undulated mindscape witnessing different pictures of the mysterious mind.
