Cesare quit his job as head of the special department in charge of integrating the Returnees into society. He quit because he didn’t agree any longer with their policy of treating them like slaves, instead of humans they were. Cesare will stand up for their life, when the Doge of Venice will decide of destroying them all when the accidents and the risks are getting higher and higher. The motivation behind Cesare’s determination doesn’t only lay in concern of human rights. Cesare believes they can still feel and, possibly, talk. His wife, transformed in a Returnee few years ago, is locked in his house. When the Doge is about to press the button that will annihilate every Returnee in Venice, Cesare will act and try to stop him.
