Joan Gershwin, a lonely middle-class housewife unhappy in love, suffers from terminal depression after her son’s departure to college. Barbara Crothers, a hard-working African American mother, suffer through a similar bout of depression after the news that her son was involved in a serious accident. In the search for answers, their journey forces them to confront the dark truths that shape their very existence. As they navigate the deep recesses of guilt and redemption, Joan and Barbara come to learn the full impact of taking the wrong road to redemption. |
