Central to the plot of ‘Lilies That Fester’ are Holly and her desire for a fulfilling relationship. She and her boyfriend Tom have recently moved into a new apartment together and everything seems perfect until Tom starts isolating himself. When Holly eventually spots him walking through town with her best friend, she has to choose between trust and suspicion… Rather than through lengthy dialogs, Holly’s state of mind is communicated via vivid symbolism. Holly’s profession as a marine biologist and Tom’s as a photographer are metaphorically significant, and serve to visually express Holly’s emotions and thoughts. |
