A mechanical heart can do wonders. The medical science of the episode is sketchy, but it’s episodic tv. Real world, the team would have gamed out several outcomes and had contingencies for as many as they could. Reconnecting twins would be so far down the list.
Gotta suspend belief here. The series concept, while innovative is seriously flawed.
