I highly recommend your abbreviated reading list in that exact order as the 2 prequels (Prelude to Foundation and Forward the Foundation) contain spoilers.
The Second Foundation trilogy (the books written by Benford,Bear and Brin) where very good, actually. All 3 are highly acclaimed authors within their own rights. But yeah, the writing styles of all 3 are different from each other and from Assimov’s so I would recommend reading them after Forward the Foundation if you are left wanting more (even though they fit in at various places during the original trilogy).
Yeah i mean the styles don’t match up and i find that in itself less fun, maybe? the fact that i forgot those particular three books is what i’m basing that on. :D
