I agree..same with other American actors who did a British or Irish accent (Rene Zelwieger, Brad Pitt etc, etc.), it’s always cringe-worthhy (although RJD as Sherlock Holme’s was fairly decent imho). I like when I am surprised by an actor or actress appearing in a tv series or movie who does a great job with an American accent only to learn later on in Interviews that they are from places like The UK or Australia
Renee Zellweger had a passable accent. It would take years for it to be nuanced like a native Brit. Lots of Brit actors have unnatural sounding American accents. There are a few exceptions, Hugh Laurie, Damian Lewis & Daniel Day Lewis. RDJ had one of the most cringe accents, not even passable.
