Who digs kitty cats?

What do you get when one assembles actors Judy Garland, Red Buttons, Mel Blanc, Julie Bennett, Paul Frees as a villain, Hermione Gingold as a fat pink kitty, Thurl Ravenscroft (come on - you know this one - You’re A Mean One, Mister Grinch!), don’t forget to have Dìck Van Dykes Morey Amsterdam as narrator, and put them with the writing talents of animation legend Chuck Jones & his wife Dorothy Jones, then add Looney Tunes animator Abe Levitow as director???

You get an UNDERRATED beloved full-length animated musical feature film (also known as La Fair Mewsette) done by Looney Tunes masters featuring Judy Garland in her only animated role as a singing cat named Mewsette, along with other well known stars & animated voice talent! Set in France & done in a beautiful Impressionist style, of course. In the opening sequence, toon fans even get to see the stars of the film transform from themselves into their animated counterparts. There’s even a book version of this that’s quite collectible.

A really nice thing about this project is that Judy wanted The Wizard Of Oz song team to also do the songs for this film, so Harold Arlen and Harburg accepted & wrote 11 very fun songs of which Judy sings 6 of them. This actually the last thing they ever did too.

Because of this film, Chuck Jones promptly went over to MGM to do some the best Tom & Jerry toons ever. Some of the many animators that worked on this film were also from Termite Terrace such as Arthur Davis, Ken Harris & Ben Washam.
