Paul Shull is on a mission to resurrect the Stinger, a rare "Franken-gun" from the last months of World War II. Only six were ever made and used in combat. The seventh is crafted and fired in this episode.Marine ingenuity created the Stinger Light Machine Gun (LMG). It consisted of the ANM2 .30-cal. aircraft machine gun modified with a makeshift trigger, a M1 Garand stock, a Browning automatic rifle (BAR) bipod, a BAR rear sight, and an improvised 100-round box magazine. The outcome weighed about 22-pounds and fired a blazing 1350-rounds per minute. Gunners of the 28th Marine Regiment used the original six on Iwo Jima with devastating effect engaging Japanese soldiers and pillboxes. For his heroism, Corporal Tony Stein, one of the six Stinger gunners, posthumously received the Medal of Honor.
