The species became extinct in the wild in the 1920s and, as part of their conservation project, they are going to be reintroduced to a new site in the wild in northern Spain. But the process is risky. At Glasgow Vet School, George Peplinski, one of the country's leading eye surgeons, carries out delicate surgery on a dog that involves creating an eyelid from its lip.
