In this programme, the Wildlife Rescue Centre near Alloa is exceptionally busy in spring, when many newborns are orphaned or injured, and the dedicated staff often take them home to feed them through the night. Vet Romain Pizzi checks out a day-old rabbit with a broken leg, a fox cub that is not eating and an orphaned red squirrel that is being hand-fed. At Ardene House near Aberdeen, vet Ann Wortley gets out her power tools as she operates on a dog's knee to cure his lameness.
