Lucy Clark meets renowned portrait artist Richard Stone, who developed his artistic skills after an accident as a child left him with a fractured skull and permanent deafness in his right ear. He started to paint to communicate with his parents and teachers, and his talent developed from there. Richard has been painting the royal family for more than four decades, as well as other notable faces such as Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu.Yvonne and Radha meet Katie Littlejohns, a mum campaigning for free BSL courses for parents and guardians of deaf children. With 90 per cent of deaf children born to hearing parents with little or no knowledge of sign language, Katie shares her experience of parenting a deaf child and the importance of having access to learn sign language.Kori Kaur talks to young deaf people about their struggles with mental health issues and highlights the issues with accessing specialist services. |
