Thanks Uploaders for the 3 eps for Season 2!! Very Grateful!
I’m rounding up to 4 stars to be nice. This is a decent show but I can’t help but feel like Jane Seymour is carrying the whole thing herself. The other actors aren’t performing badly or anything, they’re decent actors delivering their material—they just aren’t giving the caliber of performance that she is. And I’d say the blame lies with the writers as her character, “Harry,” feels like the only one that’s been fleshed out to any degree. So we have this dynamic character meandering through a field of cardboard cutouts.
I feel like I need to amend this! With the last two batches of episodes (they’re dropping 2 at a time) side characters are taking on a new dynamic. I think this is just a case of writers feeling things out and actors working out their characters’ motivations. It’s still just an edgy, saucey take on Murder She Wrote but no longer feels like watching a bunch of people do roleplay/improv. I can say it’s earned those 4 stars now. Maybe even 4 and 1/4?
