Building on one of the most popular, best selling survival horror video games of all time, Resident Evil will tell a brand new story across two timelines:In the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world. Cut to the second timeline, well over a decade into the future: there are less than fifteen million people left on Earth. And more than six billion monsters -- people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past - about her sister, her father and herself - continue to haunt her. |

This sucked
The first episode was disappointing, and I almost gave up. But I gave it another episode and it got better. The third was better still. And the fourth gave everything we’ve come to expect from “Resident Evil”, corporate greed, human drama, zombies, mutant animals. It just kept building after that. The finale was amazing. I loved the mutant zombie gator. My only gripe is with Billie. The actresses who played her looked so different that it was impossible to believe it was the same person. They did a great job casting Jade’s characters, so I wonder why. Here’s hoping there’s a second season.
Young Billie has a wide face while Adult Billie has a narrow face buts its believable to me. They are suppose to be 14 in the show. So peoples appearance will change over time.
To a point, yes. But there didn’t seem to be a single shared feature between them. The eyes were especially jarring for me. But maybe it’s just me.
Billie or the young actor that plays her is very inconsistent so I could see why it would cause confusion. Also its very difficult to cast similar looking actors. I don’t think adult Jade shares too many similarities either.
Having finished it… Main characters are very inconsistant. You’ll will be annoyed by their actions. It was definitely slow to start. It is highly entertaining. I remember playing the game loooong time ago but I just don’t get the motives of the viilains(What happens when you dominate the world?). I would watch another season if it happens.
The fact that it is on Netflix IS the explanation.
That’s a great way to look at it. And very evolved. I think the “Moaning and groaning” of it all, that you speak of - at least when it comes to this adaption - is that people are excited for a Resident Evil TV show, as there’s never been one. Yes, there have been more movies than Michael Jordan has championships, but TV can be really great when done right, and ya, I’m talking about Netflix because you can look at the other zombie show they did, “Black Summer”, which was quality.
I don’t think people wanted to watch a generic R.E. series that did not stand out in any way. Being bland is an issue that some of the Milla R.E. movies in the series dealt with, so I do give Netflix credit for trying to be creative and think outside the box.
At the same time, I REALLY don’t think any of us wanted to watch freakin’ “Grand Army” with Zombies. Hell, with what they attempted to give people, this would have probably gone over waaay better as a re-worked “Riverdale” plot.
“ARCHIE! The zombies are after Veronica! We gotta save her!”
That show is so weird, it would have worked, but the dog crxp that Netflix gave us? Nooooooooo……
Zombiesploitation!
It’s a tv adaption, not following video game storyline. I’m 3 episodes in and it’s good so far. Hatin right off the back based on race is wack .
i’m 3 ep’s in to but can not bring myself to say it’s good lol
Vfx, cinematography, music, acting is all really well done. Definitely not deserving of all the hate its getting. I get that it’s not like a groundbreaking, awe inspiring series, but it’s certainly worth a watch.
I know it’s based on the game’s story but it’s a typical evil corporation’s experiment gone bad, nothing special.
I though this series was okay to watch, it had it’s “issues” but I stuck with it.
Now, mind you…I never got into playing the video game/was part of the RE Video game craze back when it was all the rage. The RE movies with Mila Jovovich are a total “guilty pleasure” to watch every now and then imho.
The ending of the series leaves off with a cliff-hanger, so you know there is going to be a season two or more.
