Pride and Prejudice meets Little Women meets Gossip Girl. Good Stuff!
If you’re a fan of Regé-Jean Page, he is set to star opposite Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett in the Focus Feature thriller Black Bag, directed by Steven Soderbergh. Plot details are being kept under wraps other then it being described as a spy thriller. Deadline broke the news last month that Focus had landed the hot package after it hit the market and the plan is to shoot this spring.
I didn’t think that I would like this but I did. it keep me wanting to see what was going to happen next. I also loved the fact that this are people of color in ALL the roles in this series. It made the series more relatable for me.
I don’t know how I feel about that. Yes it’s good to see people of color in roles, however, back in the 19th century the few black people in Britain would have been servants.
But since this is a work of fiction they can do whatever they want. It’s a fantasy world
Just like all the sex and openness, that didn’t happen.
I couldn’t watch it after one episode. I guess I’m used to the traditional 19th British costume dramas
I’m guessing you live in Coeur d’Alene Idaho, you think Hitler was truly just misunderstood, and the girls at the local bar couldn’t possibly get drunk enough to let you take them home.
Hello Mike, Blacks in the 19th century weren’t limited to servanthood. Ira Aldridge (Actor) managed Coventry Theatre (1828). Upper class: Sir Lindsay’s daughter, Dido Elizabeth Belle, Ignatius Sancho (1728) etc. Visit: tales of times forgotten and search: /2021/06/09/yes-there-were-black-people-in-britain-in-the-nineteenth-century/ and
historic england .org .uk and search: /research/inclusive-heritage/the-slave-trade-and-abolition/sites-of-memory/black-lives-in-england/working-lives/) - and Google Black victorians. Enjoy…
sooooooo, to clarify for the people in the back…..you didn’t watch it because the black people in this series were not playing the traditional roles of servants or slaves and there was too much sex? Not quite sure how to feel about your comment except it could have been simplified by keeping that comment to yourself or saying “it just wasn’t my cup of tea”. This is the internet and people will say and post anything they want because it’s with in their right but, sometimes less is more. If you still don’t understand….. I DO take offense to your comment.
After downloading an episode I found it had Arabic subtitles you can’t turn off. So I checked the remaining episodes and most of them have the subtitles and/or english closed captions.
No problems or subtitles if you watch on streamtape
Thank you Mike. I like to download a whole season and then watch whenever I feel like, and don’t need wifi. At the time I posted that comment there were only a few links, many more now. I went to another site to find links with no subtitles.
This season is definitely much more enticing than last season… a true slow burn love story! Anthony and Kate had such amazing chemistry…! I’m tempted to re-watch it over and over again!
I was hesitant to try this out but I’m glad I did! Definitely early 1800’s Gossip girl. Can’t believe the cast is playing such young roles and are quite older than you think! :O One that plays a pubescent (12 or so) is only 2 yrs younger and I’m in my mid 30s!
