Trapped inside a mysterious alien portal that defies familiar rules of time, space, and gravity, Captain Burnham must fight Moll – and the environment itself – in order to locate the Progenitors' technology and secure it for the Federation. = Low Quality | = Medium Quality | = High Quality | How do I watch these? |
im so glad they did not cram everything in a hour. this was a good two hour final.
I had an hour and 25 minutes, but that was good enough for me.
I really like how they integrated Agent Daniels (Kovich) (the Temporal time traveller from Star Trek Enterprise) into this. I don’t know if it was already known by others, but if so it slipped by me.
i want one…
i reckon the logic was a bit flawed about getting rid of the thingie.. but also a dubious test by made by someone who found the thingie first from people who inhabited the thingie.. seems like a weak door..
but i think they did well, some pretty huge arcs to tie up, a little soppiness which wasnt too trite and though the slow motion positivity was a bit extended for my taste, it’s nice to pay gratitude to everyone involved, you dont see that often and integrated into a finale. discovery was a great addition to the pantheon imo.
“life itself is meaning enough”
This run seemed especially short, because it had so many fewer episodes than the previous series.
That was a strange ending. Flying off with no crew, when she just said she would send the crew back to headquarters (?) and leave the Discovery out wherever they were taking it. The reunion shot was sort of weird, too. It had to be just the cast celebrating the last show, but it didn’t really make sense in the context of what had just happened.
And what about the spore drive? Are they just going to abandon the spore drive somewhere out in space for anyone to steal? I guess they would remove it first, but what would they do with it? Enquiring minds need to know!
From what was said, I’m hoping the Discovery will be rebuilt, updated and eventually her son will take it over, but you never know what these writers are going to do. All I can say is that I loved Discovery and really want to see the ship at least continue on in the saga somehow. It was the best ship to date, IMHO, with the best crew since TNG.
There has been so much whining about this show, but it got 5 seasons. TOS only got 3 and none of them got more than 7. Despite all the haters, it’s finished in the top 10 steaming shows for the last 3 weeks and will likely be there this week as well. All in all, it was a worthy addition to the Trek Universe, and I’ll miss having a live action Trek fix because it’s going to be awhile before we get anything new. Strange New Worlds in 2025, Starfleet Academy in 2026, and still no word on when Section 31 will be happening.
ok, however, tos had 79 episodes. discovery had 65. your analysis is illogical
Given that it has a 7/10 on IMDb, 84% on RT, 86% on Google and 7.3/10 on TVMaze coupled with, as I already stated, top 10 ranking for the last 3 weeks among streaming shows, the only thing illogical is that it has a lower rating here. I’m sure that has a lot to do with the demographics of users here, as evidenced by how many cry about how woke a Star Trek show is even though it has always been the case. Was it the most successful or best Star Trek show, no, but I didn’t make that claim.
BTW, episode count is irrelevant as no shows on streaming sites get 20+ episodes a season like shows used to.
no insult, just observation. ;)
take a hint
oooh, good one
“no shows on streaming sites get 20+ episodes a season”, The Simpsons, The Goldbergs, American Dad, just to name a few that I watch lol
Yeah I thought it was decent. Not my fav but I’m easy to please.
This episode was typical of this writer’s fluffy story-line with very little substance. One whole season of build-up resolved in a few minutes. Same as last season. Spend some time on Moll and the Progenitor tech ffs.
As a whole series it really suffered in the writing department. They replaced the show-runners a bunch of times but with every new turn new bizarre choices came along. So many.
At least we got Strange New Worlds out of this.
I’d love to hear the conversation from the crew on that one particular ship that vanished.
Why do I have a feeling that the guy with the glasses that seems to be running everything in the background that has a collection of stuff, like Sisko’s baseball, Geordie’s visors, and a few other things, and named himself as ‘Agent (can’t remember now)’ from the Enterprise, can be only Odo? Guy was a shapeshifer, and was for all intents and purposes immortal, so he could easily have blended into Starfleet for all of those centuries, and would up holding positions of trust and power. And it would explain the collections…
No, he’s a time traveler, a recurring character on the series Star Trek: Enterprise.
You’re thinking about someone different. Odo is a shapeshifter from Deepspace 9 and was the guy that Sisko always called ‘Constable’.
You seem to be having trouble with your antecedents. The topic you raised for discussion is who “the guy with the glasses” is. We already know who Odo is!
Yes, and Odo being an immortal shapeshifter could well be that very same person.
Sure, in your fanfic, Odo can be whomever you want him to be. He could repeatedly travel back in time and become each of the ToS bridge crew in turn, if you like. I’m just referring to what the writers of this show decided to do when they wrote the script as aired.
Odo is not a time traveler. Just long lived. And pretty hard to kill. How did the writers of the show make it someone else? I just tossed it how there as a hypothetical, yet you have not shown me to be wrong yet.
FFS! Are you doing this on purpose?
You wrote: “that the guy with the glasses that… named himself as ‘Agent (can’t remember now)’ from the Enterprise….”
He named himself “Agent Daniels.” That is the name of a recurring character on the TV series Star Trek: Enterprise. That character was a time traveler. That character was not Odo in drag. You’re making up bullshit because you don’t know what’s going on, because you weren’t paying attention, because you didn’t think it was important when someone was telling you who they were.
BTW, if you are doing this on purpose… you’re a terrible person, but I gotta admit I admire your sense of humor!
No, simply didn’t catch it, and has been a heck of a long time since I watched Enterprise….and I probably missed a couple episodes…
Same here, though the time agency has shown up in enough other Star Trek properties that I recognized who the character must be, even without remembering his name. Reading a couple of other comments here and then googling filled in the blanks.
I want to apologize for the tone of my earlier comment. I was having a very bad day and being a jerk. I’m having a very bad day today, too, but trying to be more mindful about it.
S’all good, we all have them.
That wouldn’t line up with Odo’s already established origins
Why? He’s pretty much immortal, knows Sisko, so that would explain the baseball, at least. And is a shapeshifter, and can take on any form at will, and can be anyone at any time.
So star trek diversity has ended an OK end to a terrible show
You really, really don’t get Star Trek! Strength through diversity has always been the central theme of the show. The writing was excessively sentimental, and the first few seasons suffered from too many good ideas that couldn’t go anywhere because of canon. But otherwise it was a strong series.
It was all feelings and relationships with every woke concept possible shoved into each episode absolutely shoved down your throat. Good riddance
You mean you couldn’t stand the show yet watched every episode?
I suppose it’s like they say, the definition of insanity is doing the same the thing and expecting different results.
Hate watching is all the rage now.
Touche, Alien, touche!
Indeed. I mean come on, the show centres the vast majority of the time around 4 x couples. Burnham + book, Moll +Lok, Doc and the engineer, Saru and the vulcan. With random chipping in from the Trill. That and every episode is basically Burnham and Book being the only people that seem to be allowed off ship.
Bring back the likes of DS:9 and Voyager where they yes had a ‘main cast’ but mixed it up with other interesting characters and often shifted the focus of the episodes to them.
The end was horrible.
The last season was okayish, but not enough pew pew.
I hate the artificial grin of the captain, but that’s actually realistic, because there are actually people out there IRL doing that (and I hate them just as much).
Way row much crying and talking about their feelings
Best season ever. Got past the wokey woke crap and onto Star Trek. just sad it was too late. BEST SEASON EVER!!
I hope the next one is aboard the entrepreneurs
