The series revolves around the feuding factions of the wealthy Gioberti/Channing family in the Californian wine industry. Jane Wyman starred as Angela Channing, the tyrannical matriarch of the Falcon Crest Winery, alongside Robert Foxworth as Chase Gioberti, Angela's nephew who returns to Falcon Crest after the death of his father. The series was set in the fictitious Tuscany Valley (modeled after the Napa Valley) northeast of San Francisco.

Kip and Henry decide to invent alter egos Buffy and Hildegarde (their fictional sisters) to move into an empty (and cheap) apartment at the hotel; Henry, to write an expose about the experience, and Kip, to get closer to Amy's beautiful roommate, Sonny Lumet, nurse, and part-time dancer.

Smiles everyone, Smiles! So began this long-running (7 season) series which was one of the ABC Network's anthology/guest-cast series (along with The Love Boat) that proved wildly popular. Each week two guests came to Fantasy Island to get their wish/fantasy fulfilled. Their mysterious host, the debonair and suave white-suited Mr. Roarke, would do the sometimes impossible and grant them their wishes...but there was always some twist to the fantasy, letting the guest learn something about themselves or get something they weren't expecting. Best remembered for the presence of Herve Villechaize as the diminutive "Tattoo" and his cry of "De plane! De plane!" the show proved popular enough to go the distance and then spawn a brief revival/remake in the 1990s. A remake, Fantasy Island (1998) in the late 1990s was not as successful as its predecessor.

As the man of the house, Gus imposed rules on the three grandchildren the same way he raised his own children but later learned ways to convey his lessons to the kids without being gruff. Jessie and the kids learn that beneath Gus' stern facade is a man who is wise about the ways of the world and cares about them very much.In a feature reminiscent of the 1960s T.V. series The Wild Wild West, each of the five acts of the episode before commercial ended with a freeze-frame shot, which then occupied one of the rooms in an abstract rendering of a house figure. As the episode unfolded, more rooms were filled until finally, when the dilemma had been resolved, the final piece was put in place, completing the house.John Witherspoon (played by Patrick Duffy) was seen in one episode and in the occasional flashback.

Helen Roper, socially aspiring but ever frustrated by Stanley's crass ways, found a supporting friend in Jeffrey's wife, Anne.

Sheriff Lobo's the corrupt sheriff from Orly County who appeared in several episodes during the first season of B.J. and the Bear (1979), as B.J.'s occasional nemesis. He now stars in his own series. He is not as corrupt as he was on B.J.'s show, but he is still trying to make a buck by cooking up schemes or hoping to be given the reward money for property he recovers or criminals he apprehends.

A Three's Company spin-off finds Jack Tripper having moved in with his stewardess girlfriend Vicky Bradford, despite the objections from her father, James, and his constant meddling in order to split the two. Trapper John, M.D. focuses on Dr. "Trapper" John McIntyre 28 years after his discharge from the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) in the Korean War. During that time after the war, the character had mellowed considerably. He did not just learn how to stop fighting the system but became a part of it, in a sense, as the Chief of Surgery at San Francisco Memorial Hospital. Trapper showed tremendous compassion toward his patients, often violating "established hospital procedures." Working with Trapper was an aspiring young professional named Dr. George Alonzo "Gonzo" Gates. Gates had a lot in common with Trapper, as he too had served in a MASH (albeit during the later Vietnam War). His sense of humor and love of life also reflected elements of Trapper's younger days. In the show, Gonzo resided in a motor home (dubbed "The Titanic") in the hospital parking lot.

Logan's Run is a spin-off from the 1976 film of the same name. The series depicted Logan and Jessica-pursued by Francis traveling in a futuristic hovercraft-like vehicle on a cross-country trek to Sanctuary in a post-apocalyptic America. The domed city was seen only in the pilot and two other episodes, using recycled footage from the film. In a change from the book and film, the television series had the city run by a cabal of elderly citizens; Francis has been promised a life beyond thirty as a city elder if he can bring back the fugitives. Logan and Jessica were joined on their journey by an android named Rem.

The show revolved around two police officers who investigated homicides in San Francisco. The center of the series was a veteran cop and widower, Lt Mike Stone (Karl Malden), who had more than 20 years of police experience and was now assigned to the Homicide Detail of SFPD's Bureau of Inspectors. He was partnered with a young, energetic partner, Assistant Inspector Steve Keller (Michael Douglas), a college graduate, age 28, who had no police experience. Stone would become a second father to Keller as he learned the rigors and procedures of detective work.

It's a Living takes place at a posh restaurant, Above the Top which is located on the top floor of a California high rise hotel. This series originally began in October of 1980 on ABC and ran for one season. ABC must have had faith in the show for it returned the following season under a new title, Making a Living. After that everyone thought they had seen the last of it, but in 1985, It's a Living restarted production for an additional four seasons which ran in syndication. The stories revolved around the waitresses (who've included: Lois, Jan, Dot, Cassie, Vicki, Maggie, Amy and Ginger) their boss and hostess, Nancy, and the piano man Sonny.
