Soap is an outrageous comedy saga serializing the hilarious exploits of the characters in two unusual families. Meet the Tates and the Campbells, two families who have relationships as complex as those in a Russian novel. But the fun is in the unraveling. The well-to-do Tate family is comprised of Chester Tate the father, and Jessica, the mother, the parents of three children. Their two daughters, Corinne and Eunice, have distinctly different personalities. Their son, Billy, compared to the rest of the family, is the only sane member of the group, according to Benson, their hired employee who knows everything about everyone. The witty Benson does his best to hold the family together. Living with the Tate family is Jessica's father, referred to as the Major -- who doesn't quite believe that World War II is over.On the other side of town lives Mary Dallas Campbell, Jessica Tate's younger sister. Mary is wed to Burt Campbell who is not as prosperous a breadwinner as Chester. Mary's former husband, Johnny Dallas, has passed on, leaving her with two sons, Danny and Jodie. The older son, Danny, does not quite see eye-to-eye with his stepfather, and while the rest of the family knows Jodie is gay, Danny just thinks Jodie has a wonderful sense of humor. |

Classic
such an amazing show! thanks for the links.
This show is 1 of my all time favourites. I’ve watched reruns many times over the years & enjoyed it just as much each time.
Fin.Season 1 and 1/2way though 2. This series may be 45 years old, but STILL as funny as hell. I watched it back in 77~81 and it all seems new again.
Snap! I’m invisible ;=)
Wow brilliant that all episodes have links! \o/ ♥
I loved this show growing up thanks for the links
Any demand for links for this??…thinking about starting on it but not positive it’s a great use of my time unless people actually want it. If even 1 person wants links then i will start so someone let me know!! ;)
Yes, Blee! Bob really wants to see himself in this! He also talked Chuck into watching this too!
Just updated s1 from yt . enjoy ;)
yes links for this
I never got around to this but it looks like someone did, many thanks uploader!…the whole situation lately has had me covering literally my entire shop’s workforce and still uploading what i can so i very much appreciate picking up my slack!! :)
Well, Blee, you are our hero even more, after learning how far you are stretching yourself for us.
Just please take care of yourself throughout this difficult phase we’re all enduring and know you’re greatly appreciated!
oh yes! links to this would be awesome
OMGosh! My aunts and I used to pee our pants watching this show.
We loved Burt and Chuck and Bob. Especially scenes of Burt strangling Bob.

So glad to see this added! It broke my heart the way it got cancelled before getting a proper ending.
I loved the show too - it was not well received at the time by everyone because of the topics. I do have to disagree with ac1d in that people didn’t laugh much at the topics. Heck, even Maude ruffled feathers.
I didn’t get to watch this when it 1st aired due to my parents not allowing it. It was too controversial so I forgot about it & finally started watching today thanks to a youtube video I watched about the show. I can see why it was controversial since the subjects it addresses were considered pretty wild back then. This was written by the same team that wrote ‘Golden Girls’ 4 years later in ‘85 that addressed the same topics, but was much better received due to Soap’s influence helping to change the TV landscape.
a lovely binge take a trip back in time to the 70s when were able to laugh at ourselves and others and not get offended BY EVERY damn thing unlike today - i remember as a wee nippa begging my parents to stay up half hour later than my bedtime to watch this as all the kids at school were talking about this show - a lovely 90 episode binge of hilarity idiocy and just plain wrong by todays standards- so many things i could comment on -there wil never be another SOAP parody (sadly) the writing in the 4ths season gets a lil dumb and disjointed cos they added 2 more writers when SUSAN and the other fella were doing so well.
think how many people would yell if they ran SOAP today ;-)
Lots of people did back then too. There was an organization called The National Federation For Decency formed by Donald Wildman that protested it & organized other groups against it too.
