Documentary about Waltel Branco, a conductor and acoustic-guitar player from Paraná, Brazil, who became an important name in Brazilian Music, Bossa-Nova, Salsa and even Jazz (he played with Duke Ellington), although he’s not widely known. He played with the most important Brazilian artists, such Elizeth Cardoso, Elis Regina, Gilberto Gil, João Donato, Jackson do Pandeiro, Roberto Carlos, and learned guitar with André Segóvia himself. He also took part in American Jazz and Cuban music (Perez Prado, Mongo Santamaria, Chico O’Farel), and has been arranging João Gilberto’s records for years. |
