Small Needle follows the emotional journey of a young Boy who cannot sexually develop without the assistance of prescription drugs. The film portrays the physical, as well as the psychological pain, onset by his hindrance. Told through a series of visually lonely scenarios, the Boy is ostracized. Friendship, girls, and playing-time on the lacrosse team are all out of the Boy’s reach. When the physical pain of his illness becomes too great to bear, the Boy and his single Mother visit a Doctor. The story follows his dilemma from illness, to diagnosis, ultimately arriving at a point where problems aren’t all solved, but the sun is rising in the distance. |
