Maria and Florencio live in contentment on a farm and have a child due in the spring, but they must first make it through the winter, one made more difficult when a desperate creature begins attacking the sheep at night. This new danger threatens not just the sheep, but the couple’s relationship, as Maria begins to question Florencio’s ability to be a caretaker. The rift sends Florencio on an inner spiritual search to prove his worthiness to Maria before the inevitable due date. Heavily improvised, the creative team of Winter Spring used an organic process to explore what it means to enter a new stage in a relationship where the demands of a partner are redefined and ultimately more pressing.
