Since 2002 Ker Thiossane in Dakar, Senegal has offered African artists access to multimedia tools and cultivated an environment where Senegalese traditions may cross-pollinate with influences from around the world. In its tenth year, the International Fund for Cultural Diversity funded Ker Thiossane, enabling it to develop a series of workshops, training over 100 African artists on multimedia arts and new technologies. This film, and Ker Thiossane, approach media and technology as tools that can be appropriated to support the development and extend the reach of African multimedia creations. |
