Details:

About the people who have chosen to stay in an up-north Swedish small town from where most people move away. About the feeling that you in a way too young age feel that you have most of your best days behind you. The midnight sun, friends who come home for a couple of weeks, the cloud berry-mires endlessness, the badlands of Norrbotten. During this 14 minute film we get to follow a phone call between two friends who have driven apart from each other. One has left their hometown and the other one still lives there. Even though the person who still lives there have chosen to stay, maybe of love to the town, maybe of stubbornness - we don’t know, but there’s still a feeling there of being left behind. Piteå, where the film is shot, is a town where 40,000 people lives. It’s located in the north of Sweden, in the historical region of Norrbotten. Piteå has traditionally had a strong forestry industry; paper mills, sawmills, and a harbor of some importance. Dream-like pictures, lo-fi sound, slide guitar, homesickness and cabin fever - Biking town of the year 2006 is everything that Garden State so desperately wanted to be.
