The aim of the Understanding the early years project is to enhance healthier outcomes for young children and their families. The Understanding the Early Years project focuses on community-based research, at the local level it is about community empowerment and capacity building. The project is self-directed by the community, through the guidance of a guiding collaborative. The community leaders and advocates who comprise the collaborative represent the diversity of the community parents of young children, service providers, schools, faith centers, businesses. The collaborative connects with existing community networks and conducts extensive community consultation and engagement. |
