While on the way to visit her mother, Mrs. Bailey stops to feed the horses. She discovers that the oats had leaked out of the bag and she is compelled to ask assistance of a party camping nearby. During her absence from the buggy, her young daughter strays off into the woods and falls over a high cliff. The rugged rocks and brush hold her tight alongside of the cliff. Mrs. Bailey becomes frantic. Dayton, one of the campers, volunteers to save the child and lowers himself by the aid of a rope. The child is restored to its mother. Dayton later secures a position on Bailey’s ranch. Bailey becomes smitten with Dayton’s wife and it is only through the recognition of a locket she is wearing that she is saved from the infuriated ranchman. Bailey’s daughter had given Mrs. Dayton the locket in appreciation of the brave deed her husband had accomplished. Bailey apologizes to Mrs. Dayton, and her husband, who had been sent on a false errand across the desert, is saved from the jaws of death. |
