Rondo Hatton essentially made his own niche in the movie world. His unusual visage (a result of acromegaly) and talent for imitating brutish behavior made a character so strongly etched in our collective consciousness that when they needed a scary brute bad guy for “The Rocketeer” they made him look like Hatton.
There is even a Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award, awarded each year for the best in horror research, appreciation and film restoration. The award itself looks like Hatton’s “The Creeper” from the movie “House of Horrors”.
This film is a vengeance flick, and they do well erasing the boundary between good and evil so you’re not sure to to cheer for, if anyone.
