This not-lost-and-was-never-lost Heavywight Championship Fight film was shot outdoors at NYC’s Polo Grounds where challenger Roland La Starza met champion ‘Rocky’ Marciano in a title bout. From ringside, Sportswriter/announcer Bill Corum describes the action and makes between-rounds comments. The fighters are seen in action in rounds one, six, seven, eight, ten… and eleven, which was the round in which Marciano knocked the already-badly-beaten La Starza down and out of the ring. The challenger got back into the ring before the count of ten, but referee Ruby Goldstein stopped the fight and gave the match to Marciano on a technical knockout. |
