An Alderman;s wife demands that the police calls be pepped up with some programs that are entertaining. Her husband petitions the police chief and the department is forced to broadcast a show between their calls. “The Three Orchids” and “The Octette” and Lester Cole and sing some songs, and Buddy Page and His Orchestra contribute some songs while also backing up the singers. The chief believes that a few hours of this will fix the alderman’s wife so well that she won’t even want to listen to the police calls in the future. And when a call comes from the Mayor, the chief thinks it will mark the end of the police department as an entertainment provider; He gets the surprise of his life as the mayor tells him the program has gone over with a bang and he expects the department to keep it going.
