Details:

Clifford is convicted of the murder of his employer on circumstantial evidence. Alice, Clifford’s fiancée, and the dead man’s daughter, is drifting down the river, when she observes an Indian who has been swept over the rapids. She rescues the Indian in a dying condition. He, believing he is dying, confesses to having murdered Alice’s father. They are miles from the country town where the execution of Clifford is taking place. She drags the Indian to an automobile and hurries to the scaffold. The black cloth is over Clifford’s head, and he is about to be hanged, as she pushes through the crowd, dragging the Indian with her. The execution is stayed a moment, while the Indian confesses to the sheriff. Clifford is liberated, and declared innocent.
