Daniel, a rising Syrian stage actor and refugee in the Netherlands, is asked a simple question by Suzanne, his Dutch girlfriend: to tell her about his first kiss. What she doesn’t realise is how loaded a question this is, taking him back to a dark experience in his childhood in the asylum centre. Here he met the first of love his life, Hannan - from Somalia, just as her mother and she were deported As Suzanne forces him to confront his past, she is forced to confront her own prejudices and stereotypes, as the child Daniel and Hannan interact with the adults in the present day. |
