Walter was 13 years old when he and his Grandmother were taken by freight car from Berlin to the Riga Ghetto in Latvia. His Grandmother was disappeared several days after they arrived. He was put to work sorting clothes when he found his Grandmother’s coat. He knew she wasn’t coming back. He was alone. This is a young boy’s story of survival, moving from camp to camp until he was liberated from Bergen Belsen by the British Army when he was 17 years old. |
