I really enjoyed this movie! I was very surprised it was as good as it was. Initally I was a little hesitant that this movie would be too cliché and therefore be simply another remake of the same or ruin its own spin on the whole lone female assasin genre; But that was definitely not the case here.
Yes the main character is female, in a seemingly mostly male world/ profession, she’s beautiful & tough, a bit damaged or from a not so perfect childhood as many as assasins likely would. So there are those classic Femme Fatal, Nikita similarities. And yet this movie, imo, sort of spun itself a little bit, just enough for it to be its own take on the genre… it is its own story, not simply a remake.
I also quite enjoyed that the film had some twists and turns and wasn’t simply just action and violence. The assasin isn’t just beautiful and daring, she isn’t just or only a very highly trained killer/ murderer, she’s smart and has her wits about her, she wants more out of life despite all of the characters telling her she can’t have the impossible.
Basically I think I’m trying to say that this movie isnt a new genre or something so brilliantly new that everyone will love it. But to me, it was more than some of its predecessors, just enough to be its own little gem of a story. It felt smarter or more interesting than some of the classic Female assasin stories.
2 thumbs up from me. And I will likely even watch it again sometime, to pick up on and pay more attention to some of the nuances I may have missed the 1st time around.
I have been putting this one off every time I see it but after reading your post I guess its time to go for it,,sounds good and I’m sure it is I;ll post after the movie,Thanks for the inspiration
Worth a watch
Was actually not a bad movie, rather liked it,went through several crappy ones before I ran across this, not sure why everyone is bitching really. Get the point about the ads, but really didn’t see much to bitch about there either truth be told, add problem seemed mild in comparison to most movies I have seen here.
Watch Trailer —HERE
Anna walks into a bar to wack some guy next thing ya know every guy in the bar is KGB tryin a killer, ya right ….
Decent action, story is a bit thin it tried to be clever but it really isn’t. It is watchable but that is about the best I can say about it. I expected a little more from Luc Besson.
Great spy action movie!
I can’t remember if I watched this or not and I like Luke Evans (The Alienist and The Pembrokeshire Murders) but I didn’t know or maybe I didn’t remember this, but Cillian Murphy is also in this movie. If I have watched it, it’s time to watch it again.
Damn! This WAS a good movie, can’t believe I honestly don’t remember watching it, but really don’t remember it. Putting this up as a spoiler on account of saying this, as I have to say that some of the more intense fight scenes remind me of a couple of the ones I remember from the Black Widow fights with Natasha, and was wondering if the people that choreographed those were also involved with the fight scenes here?
Clearly you have to suspend reality a bit for some of the fight scenes, just like you would for the ones in the Black Widow fights, but in a way, that’s kind of the point, it’s not really about reality, it’s about enjoying the moment, and watching the movie, and getting away from everything else for a moment. That’s what a good movie is supposed to do for you if you just let it, and I think this is what this one did for me.
Glad I watched this for the second time. Good watch.
It could have been much better. I could stand the idea of a twiggy woman battling it out in hand to hand combat against a dozen of heavy men, but I couldn’t stand all the jumping back and forth in the timeline. It’s just pointless and confusing.
Wasn’t for me. I have watched a few movies where they did this, and you have to pay close attention to what they are doing and watch the plot closely. I was sitting in front of the laptop by myself and having one of my rare lucid moments and was just in the right mood to to pay attention to it this time.
If you do that with a movie like this it can be really clear, and make sense. If I’m not mistaken, they have done some of this with a couple of the Mission Impossible movies as well, backtracked and shown how some things worked out.
Just watched the trailer for this, and then looked at the comments, and seems like I watched this, and do have it on my ‘watched’ list, but honestly don’t remember watching it, but from the trailer I thought it looked pretty cool. Gonna go and watch it again, just for grins. I seemed to have liked it the first time around, so why the heck not, yeah?
The lead anna cannot act for toffee but apart from that quite a good movie , great action not to cliche although the plot twists were all pretty obvious , 7/10

I wonder how long Hollywood will keep stuffing this junk like female Ghostbusters, Oceans 8, Atomic Blond and now Anna movies onto our screens… Total junk, get woke go broke.
Huh? Atomic Blond was excellent. Underrated. Loved the realistic fight scenes. Charlize Theron did her own stunts - all the fights. Loved the plot and the twists, especially at the end. No offense, but now I know not to trust your reviews!
This movie was excellent. Great spy flick and the actress was fantastic.
hollywood stop this crap…
La Femme Nikita, is and was better then this, if ya havent seen it, then ya should, before watching this…..
story and character development are lacking but visuals and actions are pretty good
damn this & toy story 4 came out were new childs play hopefully it be up soon lol
eff 09/10 : New HD Versions! Decent Quality at last!
The movie was enjoyable. May be another Cold War femme-fatale movie, but very entertaining. More enjoyable to see that a film doesn’t have to make either side good/bad specifically, though it’s still obvious in this film. Cool fight scenes and shooting, though of course you have your “woman throwing 200lb man around” and “trained soldiers missing,” but still an interestingly clever film trying to cover it’s bases in logic however it can.
Way way over the top with her abilities to kill building loads of trained men sustaining only the odd cut to her face but it was an entertaining enough movie.
Oh, I must say.. How dirty they are this Russians, Look at her flat in Moscow, the walls and the door looks like they don’t have even water, poor things. Or is it the tensides that are missing? Paint? Also the military is soooo bad. Can’t fight even an skinny girl ha ha.
Why don’t we make Russia a US state?
yeah the amount of ads is getting out of control xD I try to tell these people that stop with the bs because I’ll blur whatever amount of ads they put but after a certain quantity the movie definitely becomes unenjoyable… they lose more traffic in the end than I do… xD
