Many encounters shape what our lives will become. For the life of George Van Tassel, a chance meeting with a German immigrant by the name of Frank Critzer created a future so unconventional and controversial that our very perception of life beyond the stars would never be the same. George began as a mechanic in his uncle’s shop. This is the place where Frank’s and George’s fates collided. Upon their meeting, George instantly becomes fond of Frank and decides to help him with his car troubles in exchange for a percentage of his future mining claims. After receiving George’s help, Frank sets out to a mystical 7-story boulder in California’s Mojave Desert, known as Giant Rock and makes it his home. George then decides to move on from his uncle’s shop and takes up a job as an aviation mechanic for none other than Howard Hughes who will eventually become a lifelong friend of George. During WWII, Frank Critzer is unjustly pegged as a German spy and mistakenly killed during a police siege. Frank’s unfortunate demise leads George Van Tassel to Frank’s place of death and to George’s new home, Giant Rock. From that point on, George’s life is filled with wonder and danger. As a UFO contactee, anti-nuclear advocate, and alternative energy scientist, George finds himself quickly on President Eisenhower’s most dangerous persons list. Nonetheless, George remains constant to his beliefs and unshakable in his message about the existence of extraterrestrial life. George’s message finally begins to reach the masses with his annual Giant Rock Spacecraft Convention. With funding from both the conventions and his friend Howard Hughes, George invents a machine called the “Integratron”, a machine designed to rejuvenate human cells and in doing so extend the human lifespan. George Van Tassel’s fame and research continues to also attract the wrong attention and eventually incites hostile opposition by the U.S. government and others seeking his vow of silence, no matter what the cost.
