Ali na Esquina (On the Corner) is a audiovisual-essay in video about the culture of samba in the city of Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Southern Brazil. The documentary has interviews with samba-players and people from the ‘samba family’ - including the first samba-player in the city of Florianopolis and the only female who writes samba songs in that part of the country. It also portrays some of the traditional samba rituals as the pagodes (samba parties) and the improvised samba. |
