This documentary is intended to bring attention to a group of students in America’s school systems that are not heard, literally, because of their unique situation. This group is the non-English speaking student population, or ELL (English Language Learner) population. These children are in classrooms with native English speakers, and expected to perform equally in all aspects of learning, including standardized tests. This documentary is not intended to address in any way the subject of legal or illegal immigration into the United States. It is simply to focus on immigrant children who must cope with the impact of their parent’s decision to come to the United States. Whether or not you agree with their presence or how they got here, these children are innocent victims who need our help.
