The Contest is an experimental arrangement. The realization follows the form of the interior monologue. There are two females preparing for a competition, so the monologue is kind of doubled. They are in the same space at the same time but there is no interaction at all. This synchronicity is only a construction for the audience. The film is about specific motifs and also about so-called morality and ethical questions. In their interior monologues the figures reflect phenomena like greed, envy, power, seduction, desire and disappointment. The plot is based on a real story. But in contrast to the real event, here the confrontation between the two opponents is spared out, there is no encounter and no attack happening. But it is in the air.
