Rebecca and Michael are out on a date at a Chinese restaurant. They receive fortune cookies and Rebecca elaborately explains (through flashbacks) how every fortune she reads comes true. Michael reads one of her fortunes and freaks out when it comments on the destruction and mortality of their relationship. Most of the film centers around his reaction to this as he searches for a better fortune before Rebecca returns from the restroom. The main source of humor is Rebecca’s quirky flashbacks and the cynical fortunes Michael reads as he searches for a fortune less pessimistic towards their relationship. |
