Psychotherapist/psychologist/artist/filmmaker Stuart Perlman takes us on a gripping journey into the world of homelessness. Dr. Perlman spent the last three years painting portraits of the homeless living on Venice Beach, California and listening to their stories. In this film we see their struggles for existence and come to understand the traumas that led them to the streets and keep them there. As Perlman paints, their tragic stories emerge. But so too does the transformative power of dignifying and respecting these individuals as we see their feelings of self-worth and hope emerge. |
