Set in rural southern Ohio and West Virginia, The Devil All the Time follows a cast of compelling and bizarre characters from the end of World War II to the 1960s. There’s Willard Russell, tormented veteran of the carnage in the South Pacific, who can’t save his beautiful wife, Charlotte, from an agonizing death by cancer no matter how much sacrificial blood he pours on his “prayer log.” There’s Carl and Sandy Henderson, a husband-and-wife team of serial killers, who troll America’s highways searching for suitable models to photograph and exterminate. There’s the spider-handling preacher Roy and his crippled virtuoso-guitar-playing sidekick, Theodore, running from the law. And caught in the middle of all this is Arvin Eugene Russell, Willard and Charlotte’s orphaned son, who grows up to be a good but also violent man in his own right.

One of the best movies I have seen for a long time ! Such great acting and an intense script. It shows how Religion affects peoples minds and lives.
We watch , we judge , we are all guilty .
If only we could start again and live in a world without religion…how different it would all be !
10/10
I’m going to watch this movie over the weekend. How did I miss this movie back in 2020? Oh, wait, COVID probably. I agree with you about the religion! My mother hid behind her religion for her justification of physically abusing me and my brother. Then in her later years, she would send money to the many tv evangelist she watched. I knew I couldn’t tell her to stop because she would send more money to the charlatans. With the direction this nation of ours is heading, I’m surprised that we don’t see tv evangelist making a comeback. I do believe in God but I have no use for organized religion at all.

Woah. What a total trip. I’m so glad I watched this.
It reminded me of Carson McCullers…but if it had gone horribly wrong.
Howso… Carson McCullers?
really good movie
a slow burner and it was nice to see tom Holland not as spidey for once
I thought this was brilliant from start to fin. Will watch again..
Riley Keough is not listed in the cast credits.
A slow burning, excellent multi-generational story. Narrated by the author of the book.
The movies starts off slow but keeps your attention thru he whole film. The ending ties the whole movie together.
People say this is slow burning but it’s not. I enjoy slow burning films but this is just slow and struggles to hold the attention of the viewer. The acting is the only positive on show here. This film is terribly disjointed, repeatedly jumping back and forth in time for no apparent reason. The narrative is almost non existant with characters feeling as if they’ve been shoehorned in. One of the worst and most disappointing films I’ve seen in a long time. 4/10
The worst kind of mediocre. It is full of stereotypes and tropes. This meandering mish-mash of genres is also painfully slow. Not in the good burning kind of way, but slow as in what you would call someone that is mentally handicapped, like this director must be.
