It is through the study of the Holocaust that young people and adults can learn about moral courage, social responsibility, human rights, the importance of speaking out against intolerance, and the difference just one person can make. Magda Schaloum survived the the cruelty and inhumanity that has become the hallmark of the concentration camps of Nazi Germany. “When we heard about groups that denied the Holocaust, we decided that we had to speak out,” Mrs. Schaloum says. “If you hear somebody deny the Holocaust, you can say, ‘I have seen and heard a survivor.’” |
