Birth Dream is part one of a video trilogy. It relies on a voice of the artist’s mother. She claims to have foretelling dreams throughout her life. Among them are birth dreams of her three children. As a passionate storyteller, the mother vividly narrates the whimsical details of her dreams. Meanwhile, the video depicts the artist going through a long and arduous process of making a Victorian era photo mechanical etching plate. The complicated process is now only preserved by a few master printers around the world. Birth Dream brings together two processes of creation, that of life and art. Through the juxtaposition, it meditates on the overpowering feeling of desire and anticipation of both creators. |
