French explorer Samuel de Champlain is wounded and lost in the woods of what will one day be Ontario. We then go back to his first visits to North America, years earlier, where he opens relations with the natives, explores the countryside, and get involved in the politics and wars of the Amerindian nations. Champlain fails to find a northwest passage to China, but instead lays the foundation for a multicultural nation in North America that will endure to this day. |
