As a form of silent film, Shy Stripes explores the visual aesthetics of analog TV broadcast, and the texture of black and white films by means of digital glitch. It is an investigation of very different media cultures that surrounds the artist; South Korean, and North Korean pop cultures in digital media and broadcasting. Stretched and de-colorized footages destruct not only the visual imagery, but also intermix the separation of the pop cultures of both North and South Korea. |
