William Roberts shares his experiences while aboard the USS Emmons during World War II. The Emmons holds the distinction of being the first ship to fire and the first to be fired upon during D-Day. The ship was eventually sunk off the coast of Okinawa after sustaining major damage by Japanese Kamikaze pilots in April of 1945. William Roberts survived the attack. |
