During the Bosnian War, fifteen-year-old Alma is forced to leave her home, after her parents pay a smuggler to take her out of the country. Caught up in an Austrian refugee camp she struggles to prove her identity as a Bosnian to avoid deportation. Alma’s quest intertwines with diverse characters who bring her hopes and disappointments. Her Serbian translator takes Alma’s fate into his hands! Based on true stories of refugees from the Bosnian war, and refugees of other conflicts around the world. |
