After winning the lottery, E, a young Maori Rapper returns home to New Zealand to find his musical and traditional roots. In the quest to find his voice he soon becomes lost as love, culture and cash collide on the dark side of the music scene. Million Dollar Mate is an independent film shot in Australia and New Zealand. Starring Academy Award Nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes and Australian Children’s TV veteran Adam Saunders. Director Chris Herd with 20 years of TV experience wrote and produced the film with Saunders. Much of the script is based on Adam’s experience as an Australian Maori and his passion for both music and his family.
