‘Angel Lips’ is a silent, hypnotic, meditation that wriggles and gyrates between analog and digital realms. Shot with a Bolex on 16mm, the resulting piece acknowledges the anachronism of working with film ion our current space and time - one which becomes progressively more virtual, and perhaps as a result, less solid. Using a still-life-like installation to warp and distort the movements of a ghostly projected figure (taken from a YouTube clip demonstrating Feldenkrais somatic movement techniques), the resulting composition abstracts the choreography as if applying the ‘Bulge’ or Fisheye’ video filter effects on Final Cut Pro physically. Using these advanced paranormal imaging techniques, ‘Angel Lips’ manages to capture on film an inter-dimensional being; the amorphous daydream of a beamer. |
