It’s the Christmas season. Mrs. Goulisz, the ornery landlady of a rooming house, is certain that she can hear Roy arguing with someone in his room late at night. She is angry because if there is someone else staying in his room, he needs to pay additional rent. When she goes up to Roy’s room, she sees no one besides Roy, who vows that there is no one else in his room and that he’s just talking to himself. Leaving Roy’s room, Mrs. Goulisz still hears Roy and the other voice having an argument which comes to a conclusion. But when she goes up to investigate once more, she finds that Roy was telling the truth in that no one else was in the room, but she also learns “who” belonged to that other voice. |
