At the wedding of an old friend, Rebecca finds herself questioning, for the umpteenth time in her young adult life… is marriage really the mark of success for a single woman? Somehow she’s managed to be a bridesmaid this summer more times than she can count and always remains the object of everyone’s pity, when was she getting married was the topic of the day. She has seen the cookie-cutter marriages of her friends, desperate to not be alone, and wants nothing to do with that life. She doesn’t understand why everyone can’t see how antiquated this idea of marriage has become. At this same wedding, Don Fensterdortin, has just been dumped minutes before the ceremony begins. He’s a hopeless romantic who, although he might not have been in love with Vanessa, certainly dreamt of the day he would get down on one knee and ask her to be his. Through the dancing, boozing and bouquet toss these two people find themselves questioning all of their pre-conceived ideas of life and love, and how this day would end. She’s cynical, he’s a hopeless romantic. Can the two meet in the middle? |
