Khulani Special School in rural South Africa, provides disabled children a place where they receive education, food, clothing, and love. Thoko Nxumalo was asked by the community to be the Principal and agreed despite the lack of a school building, so Khulani Special School began under trees and a tarp for classrooms. With the help of community members, about 30 children were located who had been kept at home, some to attend school for the first time. This clip shows us the School and Thoko on a home visit to check on Noxolo, who has cerebral palsy. Success has grown enrollment to over 150 students with a waiting list of 80 more children. |
